an old dream with a foreign language http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2006/03/an_old_dream_wi.php It is not that important, I don’t think it is. It is just about time, about the seconds and minutes and then the new day, the new year and the gardened could sell his flowers for a little bit extra. Girl says “Sombols, afandim, sombols” and then I just notice that it’s been 8 years. I am aging and celebrating, dancing in sorrow and pain, and greeting. Oh, god what if you were here and could hear us chanting our old tradition just to get a new hope, new day and new year. So how old is your new year my friend?

I am not selling` http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2006/02/i_am_not_sellin.php I got my rushes back today, in the bus I was only thinking about my film, not about east, not about politic, about nothing but my film, my art work. I have a lot to do. I have to do it and I don’t care about the rest. I don’t care if I making film for my bedside drawer or you. I just want to make it. Nicholas told me last night that I have to refine my language, you what, I don’t care about my language because I am not selling anything to you, you just can go away, I am not a seller, I am an artist.

conflict http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/09/conflict.php Life is shit, life is not worth not having cigarettes, and excessive sex, and alcohol. I do not like this life because it is being slaughtered by “you” every single moment. I do not like this life because there are many like “I” suffering poverty and hunger, and at the same time we are all sexoholics, alcoholics and politcoholics. And you know what? I don’t care if you believe in capital punishment or not, if you believe in nuclear power or not. I get angry if you go to cinema to watch “spider man” and if your favorite film is “independence day”. I do not eat animals not because of I am asking them not to swallow me bit by bit when I am dead, in fact I will be glad if they do. I do not eating animals because I do not want to kill them but it does not mean that “I” can not kill “I”. And by the way it is not your business.

body language http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/07/body_language.php ِDo you know how much I love you? perhaps not, because I've never told you that.
Do you know how much I hate you? certainly yes, because I've always expressed myself.

What's with this world? http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/06/whats_with_this.php What’s with this world? Writers become politicians, politicians become businessmen, businessmen become artists and artist are still looking for jobs.

Social Life http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/05/social_life.php How social is social enough to live in this society, this is the question I ask my self and now I can ask you. I guess social life is like a forbidden sex, you do it and right after that you regret it. We all go outside, drink, smoke and chat with friends over nothings and basic absurdities, but after that you come home and you think, you will see what you have done in that day was really waste of time. Indeed a sunny day like today was good to go to a park and enjoy the nature, but going to a park and smelling meats being barbecued on the charcoal, listening to men stuff and women chit chats, is what you call “COOL”? By the way, please define “COOL”!

Germany's Ratzinger is Pope Benedict XVI http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/04/germanys_ratzin.php I've thought that it is only common in Iran to have such population gathering for religious icon's funeral and their conclaves to choose a new figure. Well, I was wrong; it is common in the world among people, old and young, men and women, straight and gays. The only difference is unlike us, their religious people do not hide that they like luxury and power, they do not hide that are rich and they do not care about the rest of the world as long as the Pope or Benedict can have few people around him to hold the book and probably cup of coffee for him. It is painful, this world is insane. These people are insane, but I respect them and I hope the new Pope, Benedict 16th, respect the free lives, free thoughts, abortion, gay marriage and he would generously put more efforts to finish conflicts in Iraq, Israel, Palestine and Afghanistan instead of trusting in our prayers. Dear Pope, congratulations for being elected and I hope the Benedict 16th would solve some issues that perhaps did not exist in nineteen hundreds.

High-Contxet Culture http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/04/high-contxet_cu.php I was thinking today that why some of my friends who are blogging in Iran did not like it when I emailed them and asked them to exchange links for our websites. They wrote : "I hate the word Exchange when it come to this point, I read your blog and you read mine and I will give you a link if I like it, you can do the same thing as you wish". The point is if I had asked them to give me a link they would have done it with no hesitations and they would be sure that I will add them on my page too. This is high context culture which I am losing the base of it unintentionally. We -Iranians- are homogeneous people, when we say one word, we understand ten, but here in North America people have to say ten words to understand one. Interesting, isn't it?
In regards to this high context culture issues, president Khatami who attended the Pope funeral ceremony was reported to shake hand with Iranian president of Israel Moshe Katzav and then he denied it strongly at Tehran's airport. Right after that some people suggested that Iranian policy toward Israel has changed and some even recommended that Iranians should marry Israelis in order to make this Iran-Israel bond strong. Funny, huh? They probably shook hands and that was it and this was done just because they were sitting on the same row due. One action for us is enough to write books and hundred journals and articles. President Khatami denied it and we know what he meant by this denial, he does not have to explain more.

Disposable Society http://www.jesmi.com/en/archives/2005/04/disposable_soci.php What would you do if what you give is much less than what you receive? Would you consider not doing it again? I mean would you say: "ok, enough is enough. Stop it." It seems that these days, in this society, people are less forgiving, respecting and caring, and if you are not needed, you would be consider as "THERE ARE SOME ICONS HERE THATARE BARELY USED, WOULD YOU LIKE WINDOWS REMOVE THEM NOW?" In fact, these day people are numbers, digits, folders; they can be disposed or easily dragged to garbage bin. Oh, Come on, it is at left corner of your screen, it is that easy, just drag the selected folder to this bin.
Disposable Society, that is what it is. Using words are easy, writing them, saying them, but the difficult part is to mean the words. Some of you might say that my expectations are high, I say: "No, what I am willing to give is high, what I have been giving was huge, so I deserve to get them back, at least partially".
Yes, I am not a cat and my love is not unconditional.
